Air Pressure Plant e.g. Air Receiver
Hot Water Heating/Supply Systems
Fork Lift Trucks
Lifting Plant e.g. blocks and tackle, slings etc.
General Electrical/Mechanical Plant e.g. Motors, Pumps
Electrical Installations e.g. Fixed Wiring
Other items such as tractors, combine harvesters etc. are not usually considered
as requiring a 'statutory' inspection, although the owner/operator may consider
that it is best practise to have an independent inspection carried out by a competent
person as part of their health & safety policy.

Agricultural Non-Manufacturing & Farms
This Occupancy does not apply to any manufacturing / processing locations, or to
locations that use animals / fowl as an integral part of the operation.
Agricultural farm processes include tilling soil, planting, fertilizing, insecticide
and herbicide spreading, watering, harvesting, bulk storage, and preparation for
sale / shipment. Agricultural farms have become more mechanized and automated over
recent years. Boiler and Machinery exposures are generally limited to miscellaneous
machines, deep well pumps, simple HVAC equipment, and MEA (the electrical supply
and distribution system).
Depending on product type, there may be significant exposure from electric motors
associated with nonmobile conveyer systems.
Depending on product mix and geographic location, many farms will possess a number
of deep wells and associated pumping equipment for irrigation. Harvesting and planting
equipment is excluded from coverage as most types are highly-modified and specialized
Most larger farms have sophisticated short distance radio communications equipment.
Other processes usually include a telephone equipment, computers and data systems,
fax, photocopy, and fire suppression systems.
Critical Equipment Exposures:
At all locations, business is usually on a daily basis, without possibility of making
up lost production.
Deep Well Pump Units: If deep well systems are present, an adequate inventory of
spare pump assemblies and drivers based on failure history minimizes the risk of
prolonged outages. Motors driving pumps are subject to electrical variations and
lightning surges. Although exposed to weather, equipment is usually designed and
constructed for that service. When the location is remote and water is provided
by submersible deep well pumps, Business Interruption exposure may be greatly increased
if an adequate number of complete spare pump units are not kept in inventory. All
pump units, regardless of design, should be equipped with lightning arrestors.
Electrical Supply & Distribution: Heavy amounts of dust and debris are common
at these types of locations. Electrical systems and motors are adversely affected
by dust and debris accumulations. Locations are often remote, and are subject to
electrical supply variations and lightning surges. Incoming electrical power should
be protected against lightning surges.
Miscellaneous Machines: Machines used to bag / package bulk products are usually
single-line, with no installed spare capacity.
