The most popular type of power transformer is the oil filled type with natural cooling. The cooling vanes for natural air circulation and the high voltage connection box can be seen in this illustration. Other designs may incorporate fan assisted cooling by mounting fans beneath the cooling vanes.
Note :- Oil can be periodically drained from the transformer and checked to confirm it's continued suitability and to give an early indication of developing problems within.
