Generally, these machines are visually similar to air compressors and perform a similar basic function but compress refrigerant gases instead of air. Examples of refrigerant gases are ammonia, carbon dioxide and freon. Refrigeration compressors range in size from small domestic models to large cold store machines of several hundred horsepower.
Note :- Periodic Examinations should be undertaken and checks made for noises of an unusual nature which may indicate developing internal problems.
