A typical diesel engine and alternator set is used as a standby supply for electricity in the event of mains electricity failure. They can also be used as the principle electrical supply in areas where a mains electricity supply is not available. Typical uses providing emergency power supplies for lighting, computers, operating theatres and continuous process plants.
Note :- Periodic startup and run tests are essential to ensure that when called upon for emergency operation, the engine starts as required. Additional regular checks should be made to the battery or compressed air starting system.
