Dock Levellers

Dock levellers are designed to accommodate a wide variety of vehicle tailboard heights at loading docks. Modern units take one of two forms, either pneumatic or hydraulic.
Firstly (pictured above) there is a scissors lift where the lift acts as a platform which is loaded at one height and then moved to the new height for unloading.

Secondly, there is the hinged plate where the inner edge is hinged, and the outer edge is free to move under power to adjust for the difference in heights.
