These tables are used to raise motor vehices to a reasonable height to allow mechanics to work on the vehicle from underneath. They can be :-
- Rope operated by a hydraulic ram either set into one of the posts or under the platform.
- A motor driven screw type or
- A direct hydraulic ram type.
Smaller versions, usually a single platform operated by a scissor lift, are sometimes used for motorcycles.
