Hydraulic Press
(Photo-Electric Guard)
Due to developments in technology and the recent decision by the Health and Safety Executive, it is now acceptable to fit photo-electric guards to the larger hydraulic presses. Similar standards and specifications apply to these guards as applied to the photo-electric guard systems fitted to electric press brakes. The major difference lies in the fact that hydraulic press manufacturers obtain the guard systems from guard manufacturers and the press and guard system are designed as a unit and sold as a unit. It is normal for the photo-electric guard to be fitted to the front of the press with the rear and sides of the tool area being protected by fixed fencing. However, certain presses have photo guards fitted at the front and rear.
